How the American Constitution pulls out of the Rondout Creek

Inquiring minds want to know!

It is 269 feet long!  One of the longest cruise boats to go up the Hudson River.   It docks at the Hudson River Maritime Museum where the creek is about 290 feet wide.

American Constitution dock at HRMM

So it back down to an area just east of the museum where the creek is over 500 feet wide.

American Constitution south of Sleightsburgh

And that is where it turns itself around to head out to the River.  Watch it here:

On my walk yesterday morning….

Caught the Independence leaving this morning on the Rondout Creek toward the Hudson. The fog is so thick you cannot see the Lighthouse or its beacon but the Independence has no problem navigating this narrow channel with instrumentation. There was a time when this would be suicide. Then within minutes after it left, the American Constitution entered as the fog made its way further west into the Creek and the Rondout. The fisherman is unfazed by the presence of the Independence which is 220 feet long but creates very little wake here. Very interesting morning…
