This is two time Olympic sculling winner and six-time winner (2006, 2009,2010, 2014, 2015, 2018) of the Royal Henley Regatta’s Diamonds Challenge Sculls , Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand’s West End Rowing Club. The forty-one year old sadly he loses here to Matt Brigham of Leeds. The chirping sound you hear at the start is Drysdale’s familiar exhale at each breath. The race ends after 4:09 minutes. I find this curious as the male 8+ races take approximately 6 minutes??? Is the Diamonds course length shorter?
